It took 291,456 steps but our contributing editor Jeff Kish yesterday completed the first section of the Pacific Northwest Trail.
That’s 138 miles in more common measurements. We’re using steps because this summer Kish is a part of our project to hike 1 million steps in a pair of Durand boots from KEEN.
Said Kish of the trip: “There was still snow up high in the mountains, and I was glad to have the boots while hiking across streams.” He said they kept his feet dry and were looking “pretty much undamaged” after the week-long hike.
Kish photographed the boots before heading out, fresh from the factory where they are built in Portland, Ore.
Now here in this article are the updated shots, the Durands after the 291,456 steps on the tough Pacific Northwest Trail.
Stay tuned as the boots ship to the next hiker. We’re sending the Durands around the country this summer from hiker to hiker in an attempt to put 1 million actual trail steps onto the made-to-be-durable KEEN boots.
