Nobody likes getting corns on their feet — but what about wearing shoes made from corn? Saucony, one of the oldest shoe companies in the U.S., bets that its latest shoe will receive a warm reception from feet attached to environmentally conscious runners.
That’s because more than half the midsole foam of the Triumph RFG (Run For Good) is made from corn, with plant-based dyes also used in the upper.
It’s the latest example of the Boston-based company’s commitment to include organic, recycled, or renewable materials in its shoes. By 2030, Saucony aims for 100% of its products to include some amount of sustainable materials.

“This year, as we celebrate Saucony’s 125th anniversary, we look back on how creating a better world has always been part of our deep-rooted heritage,” Rob Griffiths, Saucony global brand president, said in a press release. “Quite simply, the future of our sport depends on the future of our planet, and we know we can do better for ourselves and the earth.”
The shoe officially arrives on September 5 on the company’s website and at select retailers.
