2024 is turning into the year of fully updated all-terrain (AT) tires. The latest, hitting the market in September, is the Nitto Terra Grappler G3.

The original Terra Grappler hit the market back in September 2009. The second-generation Terra Grappler G2, still on the market today, came out in 2014. Tire tech has greatly improved over the last decade, and it’s time for the third-generation Nitto AT to grace our adventure vehicles.

New Terra Grappler

The Terra Grappler G3 carries with it much of what was great about the G2; 3PMS-rated, full-depth sipes, variable pitch tread blocks, and a dual sidewall design. Where the new tire really shines is its new rubber compound, designed to offer improved wet and dry traction and increased longevity.

The all-terrain gets a more aggressive look, and new sidewall and tread patterns. The sidewall design is all new, both on the inside and outside of the tire. This design not only gives you an aggressive look, but also options as to how you’d like your ride to look. The aggressive design also helps create a better biting edge and a more durable sidewall.

Computer analysis was said to have been used to reduce road noise through the variable pitch tread blocks. This new tire also carries with it a slightly higher mileage warranty — 5,000 miles more than the last gen. Now you get a 70,000-mile (hard metric sizes) and 55,000-mile (LT and flotation sizes) treadwear warranty.
