Call it an ad or call it a movie. But, we call it very cool!
Rivian teamed up with Foster Huntington and his Movie Mountain film studio to create this really fun stop-motion mini-movie. It brings the company’s impressive Gear Guard security system to life in the form of a very friendly Yeti character.
In a short post about the film, Rivian says, “Our furry friend’s spirit was born out of a desire to add security in smart and friendly fashion, without operating from a place of fear.”
The movie is made using dioramas and models and traditional stop-motion cinematography combined with the latest technologies. Huntington stays he’ll let us all in on more of how this fun project was created on his Instagram soon.
The sets for this stop-motion film were quite large. The café scene was shot using a 20-inch-long — 1/12th scale — model of the Rivian. The driving scenes were made using a smaller 1/20th scale model of the R1T.
It took 24 individual pictures to make up each second of this film. That’s over 3,000 images, each with slight adjustments to the set to create motion, to make this short film come to life.
Also, for $40, Rivian sells a plush version of its Gear Guard Yeti. Check it out here.
