wearable technology company called NURVV just announced its launch of NURVV Run — smart insoles that connect to an app to help you run better.

This new running product takes tracking your run to a new level — by using biometrics below your feet to create training goals displayed on an app. The product launched yesterday at the CES show and will be available to consumers as early as January 20.

The aim of the NURVV Run insoles — in conjunction with NURVV’s coaching app — is to help runners run faster, improve their training, and avoid injury.

“Runners are able to collect a huge amount of data about each and every run they do. However, most of what they capture is historic, inaccurate, and provides few insights on how to be a better runner,” said brand founder Jason Roberts.

“NURVV Run will revolutionize how people run by accurately capturing the metrics that matter most.”

How It Works

The smart insoles are able to track data through the 32 sensors that capture data at 1,000 times per second, per sensor.

The insoles are a cool concept, but as every scientist knows, data is useless without interpretation. Good thing the app essentially does that for you. It analyzes the data, then displays it as metrics like cadence, foot strike, pronation, and balance.

The NURVV coaching app also delivers training tips based on runners’ performance in real time and after runs. You can also set personalized goals like a target pace or time.

While NURVV’s insoles should be used with the app, you don’t have to run with a phone. The insoles can connect phone-free through an Apple Watch or Garmin ANT+.

The insoles come with two lightweight GPS trackers to help track data, and full access to the compatible NURVV Run app. NURVV Run insoles are available for preorder today for $300.

With smart technology permeating the fitness industry in so many ways, this biometric product will definitely be a contender. Whether or not they actually help you run faster is yet to be determined.
