Arc’teryx issued a recall of its Procline ski-mountaineering boots last week. The axis pin at the rear of the boot can dislodge, resulting in damage to the boot and posing a fall hazard.
Arc’teryx released the Procline in fall 2016 to rave reviews. With an articulating cuff that gives a larger than normal range of ankle motion, the boot is comfortable and versatile for climbing and skiing endeavors.
GearJunkie awarded it Best In Show at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2016.
The brand revealed a repairable flaw in the design with the recall. The affected boots were manufactured between November 1, 2015, and March 31, 2017.
The recall affects both men’s and women’s models. See image above.
So far, 18 people reported incidents of the axis pin dislodging. No injuries have been reported.
Recall Procedure
Anyone who owns a pair of Procline boots should check the inside of the rear spoiler. If there is not a colored dot at the top, the boots should be returned immediately.
Arc’teryx will repair the boots at no cost and provide a return shipping label.
