If you ski or snowboard, you probably wanted to be in the western mountains this past weekend, with everywhere from California to Colorado getting blasted with snow. But judging by traffic on Interstate 70 west of Denver, everybody decided to go to the same place!
If you missed the weather report: the mountains in and around Summit County, Colo. (Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, Vail…) got absolutely dumped on, with a couple feet of snow falling from Thursday through Sunday.
This led to what a DJ on Summit County’s Krystal 93 called the “worst traffic in 10 years” on Sunday afternoon as thousands of people tried to return from the mountains to their homes along the front range.

How do I know he said it? ‘Cause I was sitting in my car, listening to the radio.
Thanks to twitter, we can share some of the frustrations weekend warriors face when trying to get a few powder turns. Amusing lines were tweeted as anxious drivers sat on and around the 70-mile long parking lot known as Interstate 70. —Sean McCoy
