A box of bullets for under $40? No way. This is 2024, right? It may be hard to believe, but it’s real, and it’s here.

Long known for making some of the best ammunition in the industry, Nosler today launched Whitetail Country, a sub-$40 box of rounds that will be available everywhere Nosler ammo is sold.

From the storied Partition to the in-demand and short-supply Accubond, Nosler consistently delivers rounds that hunters want. The problem was that the ever-increasing price of precision ammo made sending rounds sting a whole lot more than most hunters would like, especially for those just trying to notch a buck tag.

Well folks, prepare to enter Whitetail Country.

See that box? I’ve been staring at that box secretly for a while with giddy joy.

In Nosler’s words, Whitetail Country is “designed specifically for deer and is engineered to deliver premium terminal performance and reliability, all at a price point accessible to every deer hunter.”

The lineup is divided into two bullet categories.

Solid Base

Whitetail Country Solid Base

Solid Base Calibers Available ($34.95/box)

  • 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr
  • .270 Win 130gr
  • 7mm-08 Rem 140gr
  • .30-30 Win 150gr
  • .308 Win 165gr
  • .30-06 Sprg 165gr

The Solid Base bullet has a fifth-generation tapered jacket and a heavy solid base. This ammo is designed for deep penetration and optimal expansion, ensuring swift and efficient kills.

Its boat-tail design and aerodynamic shape enhance accuracy and wind resistance, making it a top choice for deer hunters seeking exceptional performance.

Straight-Wall

Straight-Wall Nosler

Straight-Wall Calibers Available

  • .350 Legend 180gr ($34.95)
  • .45-70 Govt 300gr ($39.95)

The Straight-Wall bullet is engineered for the lower impact velocities common to straight-wall cartridges. With a flat base, a thin jacket at the tip, and a lead nose, it’s bound to give some serious expansion even at long distances.

This is that bullet for those who live in states that happen to live in straight-wall cartridge states and, of course, those who just prefer to shoot straight-wall.

My Experience (So Far)

Successful Rifle Hunt

Because I happen to shoot a semi-custom Nosler Model 21 rifle with a Nosler SR-30Ti suppressor, a gun that has never fired anything but Nosler 270 Win Ammunition (of various flavors), my wallet eagerly leapt from my pocket.

This isn’t just the joy felt from cost savings in the field. This is a bigger joy for me. This is the joy felt from cost savings from the range.

I really love 270 Win 130gr AccuBond Trophy Grade Ammunition. I hate paying over $4 every time I pull the trigger. It makes a day at the range painful. I know there are cheaper options. I just happen to love the consistency and precision of that round. So far, everything I’ve aimed that rifle and that round at has died without taking another step.

All that said, I am not sending that round repeatedly at the range. I would also have certainly loved to have another option for deer season when the conditions were right and my shots aren’t really heading to the next ridge.

So far, though I’ve only fired it at the range, I’m blown away (pun intended) by the Whitetail Country line.

I hadn’t necessarily planned on doing much rifle hunting this year for deer, but now I think I may just drag the ol’ 270 out into Whitetail Country in celebration.
