This week, two lucky winners will receive a pair of K2’s latest dual-dial ski boots: the men’s Recon AF Zonal BOA or the women’s Anthem AF Zonal BOA. These medium-volume boots are K2’s flagship expert-level models, now upleveled with a dual-zone BOA Fit System that gives skiers independent, millimeter-precise control over both their forefoot and their cuff tension. If you’ve ever dealt with pressure points, numb toes, or sloppy heel hold from traditional buckles, the added control wraps the foot evenly plus holds the heel securely — and both zones adjust on the fly, with your gloves on. The boots retail for up to $900.

More on the Prize
The Recon AF Zonal and Anthem AF Zonal represent the top of K2’s dual-dial BOA lineup, loaded with the brand’s highest-end performance components and built for aggressive, hard-charging skiers who still expect a plush, pressure-point-free fit.

Built for Every Level of Expert Skier
- The men’s Recon lineup spans four dual-dial (Zonal) models for the 2027 season: the flagship Recon AF Zonal BOA 130 and 110; and the Recon Zonal BOA 120 and 110. The women’s Anthem line offers five dual-dial models across three tiers: the premium Anthem AF Zonal BOA (115 and 95); the Performance-tier Anthem Zonal BOA (105 and 95); and the uncapped Anthem Team Zonal BOA for elite skiers and racers.
- The Anthem series isn’t just a scaled-down Recon. For 2027, K2 rebuilt it using women’s-specific foot scans and anatomical modeling. The result is a tighter heel pocket, wider toe box, lower cuff, and a steeper forward lean built around female biomechanics.
- The AF tier (on both the men’s and women’s sides) adds K2’s most premium components: a P1 liner for maximum heat-moldable, custom-contoured fit; an elasticated cam-buckle power strap for dynamic rebound and shin-bang prevention; and an impact-absorbing Zeppa to dampen heavy landings.

The Power of Dual BOA Dials
- Each boot uses two independent BOA dials: a lower dial that controls tension across the forefoot and instep, and an upper dial that controls the cuff and shin. For regional control, dial down a wide forefoot for comfort while cranking the cuff tight for responsiveness, or vice versa.
- Unlike traditional buckles, which clamp down and create pressure points and gaps, the BOA Fit System wraps the shell evenly around the foot, pulling the heel securely back into the pocket for a locked-in, consistent fit.
- Because it adjusts by the millimeter instead of jumping between a handful of buckle notches, skiers can fine-tune fit precisely — and make chairlift or mid-run changes without taking off a glove.

More on the Brand
BOA has been around since 2001, when the company got its start on the slopes of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. K2 was one of BOA’s first brand partners, helping bring the dial-and-cable system to snowboard boots that year.
Alpine skiing was a much tougher test. Ski boot shells are rigid, sub-zero-rated plastic built to withstand greater forces, and it took years of engineering to make BOA legitimate on a downhill shell. When K2 launched the Recon 120 BOA for the 2023/2024 season, we called it a watershed for the industry, noting K2’s claim to the moment as “the biggest advancement in skiing in 60 years,” and highlighting BOA’s ability to help wrap the foot evenly instead of clamping down a single point. That same technology has since made its way to other performance disciplines as well, delivering a similarly even, pinch-free hold for the world’s best cyclists. The proof was at this year’s Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes where the BOA Fit System featuring FS2 showed up on helmets across the podiums.
We’ve tested the first iterations of single-dial BOA alpine ski boots, and covered the launch of dual-dial boots across brands like K2 and who became the first to ditch buckles entirely, in favor of independent upper and lower dial zones. And the technology has proven itself across the skill spectrum: Our annual Best Ski Boots guide named the K2 Anthem 95 BOA its pick for Best Budget Ski Boots, praising how the dial “shrinks” the shell evenly around the foot, and calling it a confidence-building option for skiers still finding their footing. From K2’s first single-dial Recon to the new, feature-rich dual-zone Anthem and Recon AF models, BOA has kept proving on snow what it’s spent two decades proving everywhere else — and now you have the chance to win a pair.
