KEEN Durand Mid WP — Built in an Oregon factory, the Durands are new this spring. (I covered the product release in a story last week, KEEN Footwear ‘Built In The USA.’”) The Durands offer a solid, supportive hiking boot with a design I found has a good “rolling” motion for comfortable long treks.

It is waterproof and has a leather upper with a thick, padded ankle cuff that could be warm for summertime treks. A substantial sole and a urethane shank in the midsole give support, though the forefoot has a surprising amount of flex.

Fit is normal in width at the heel and arch though with a somewhat generous toe box that’s capped with a bumper to give the Durands a signature KEEN look.

Weight: 27 oz. (per boot, men’s size 12); MSRP: $180; More info/buy now
