Righteous climbing in the Dolomites meets touching family drama in a beautiful new documentary about Edu Marín’s ascent of ‘Panaroma’ (5.14b/8c).
Spanish climber Edu Marín spent years in competitions — until the day he decided to quit. That was about 10 years ago, and a new documentary on his YouTube channel tells the story of what happened next.
Marín decided to tackle “Panaroma,” a 5.14b/8c multi-pitch climb that’s one of the hardest routes in his home country’s Dolomites. He also decided to pursue the project with his father, who raised his son on climbing — but hadn’t committed to a multi-pitch route in 15 years.
“Now we are back to the start,” Marín’s father says in the video. “Back to climbing together, which is always what’s made me happy. Climbing multi-pitch routes, but most of all with Edu.”
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
