ICEMULE makes lightweight, strong backpack coolers to carry your cans along on any adventure.

Each backpack cooler comes with padded mesh straps and an air valve for boosting its insulation. And, according to the brand, they all float — even when full! These designs let you keep your hands free while you paddle, cast, or hike.

ICEMULE Features

ICEMULE backpack coolers are made with the adventurer in mind.

The coolers have double padded mesh straps for comfort, and come in an array of collections and sizes to help you carry what you need on your back, closer to your center of gravity. That frees up your hands to hold a trekking pole or snap a photo.

The coolers are waterproof, and use the brand’s MuleSkin fabrics to hold up against the elements. Inside, Polar Layer Insulation technology can keep contents cold for 24 hours or longer.

The coolers use the brand’s air valve, which enables you to add air for more insulation and then release it to fold flat when it’s time to store it. This same function is also designed to add buoyancy so the coolers float when inflated, even at max capacity.

ICEMULE Boss: $350

Icemule Boss

The Boss won Best Overall in our best backpack cooler review, including winning our ice retention test. It uses a stepped-up Polar Layer XT insulation for multiple-day ice retention, double-padded air mesh shoulder straps for comfort, and molle webbing on both sides for latching on extra items.

PakShield waterproof zippers keep water in/out, and the cooler has three insulated waterproof cargo pockets for carrying additional dry storage items. This beefed-up backpack has a reinforced handle and adjustable hip belt to distribute weight and ensure comfort for extended wear. This is the brand’s cooler for hunting, fishing, or hiking trips that last for days.

The Boss weighs 7.5 pounds and holds 24 cans.

Beat the Summer Heat

Once you have an ICEMULE, you may find that it’s just as handy and convenient for use beyond your summer adventures.

This can keep snacks cool at the park, or groceries cool when the summer temps peak and turn the inside of your car into an oven. Either way, you can enjoy the ice retention and handy straps no matter what you get up to.
