The 139-year-old boot and apparel company collaborated with 343 Industries to bring the video game-inspired workboot to real life.
Wolverine announced this week the forthcoming release of a limited edition work boot, the Wolverine x Halo Master Chief boot. Drawing from Wolverine’s original Hellcat safety boot — launched in late 2020 — the brand took note when members of the gaming community began comparing the design to gear seen in the Halo universe.
A litany of requests rolled in. Gamers everywhere wanted Wolverine to create a modified version of the Hellcat that would pay homage to the fabled game’s protagonist, Master Chief.
The bootmaker happily obliged.
“Given our roots in military science fiction, we’ve often heard from our fans that there is an appetite for a boot inspired by the Master Chief. So, when Wolverine approached us about a collaboration, we were ready to answer the call,” said John Friend, director of Halo and Xbox Consumer Products at 343 Industries-Microsoft.
Wolverine tells us that the work boot will come with all the comfort, durability, and support that has come to define the brand.

- The exterior heel of each boot features a “117” emblem — the Master Chief’s Spartan number
- UNSC (United Nations Space Command) insignia throughout the boot
- An in-universe logo for the “Materials Group” flocks the outsole
- The midsole contains UltraSpring high-rebound ETPU midsole for a lightweight, energized ride
- Rubber lug outsoles provide high-performance traction
- Gold-rated premium full-grain leather and a hook and loop lace cover over

Release Date & Pricing
The timing of the boots’ release corresponds with the March 24 premiere of the Paramount+ Halo television series. More than a year of prototyping is about to come to fruition.
Finally, the design team will drop 117 pairs of the Wolverine x Halo: The Master Chief boot. They’ll go for $225 MSRP, available exclusively at Wolverine.com/halo.
