Team of Rivals: How Whistler and Blackcomb Pushed Each Other to Greatness

The two mountains are now one resort. But it wasn’t always that way. This video takes a deep dive into one of history’s great ski destination rivalries.

“We’d be in the alpine office, with our binoculars, looking across the valley … we’d better get our act together!”

You know it’s epic combat when the two rivals are spying on each other. RIVALS: Whistler VS Blackcomb is the story of how two ski resorts used their long-running rivalry to push each other to greater heights.

The film includes the voices of folks who were there before the two resorts fully merged in 2003. Worth a watch for any winter sports nut, but particularly if you ski British Columbia.
