Spacious, dependable, and tough as nails, Patagonia Black Hole bags and duffels are favorites of adventure-seekers worldwide. And now Patagonia makes the whole line with recycled materials.
Ten million is a pretty hard number to comprehend. Ten million seconds, for example, make up 115.74 days. It also happens to be the number of water bottles apparel and gear brand Patagonia kept out of landfills with this season’s Black Hole bag collection.
The bags have been around for years. But the brand just released the first line made with 100-percent recycled body fabric and webbing.
Patagonia Black Hole: Recycled Materials for 2019
GearJunkie has used the Black Hole bags on myriad adventures. From schlepping gear to Chile to hucking clothes into the trunk for an overnight trip to the mountains, we’ve put them through the wringer.
They’re durable, water-resistant, and backed by a great guarantee. Available in 25 styles, this line is one of Patagonia’s core offerings. And we’re stoked that it’s now made from post-consumer recycled material.
If you’re in the market for a duffel or gear-hauler, check the line out here.
A Few Favorite ‘Black Holes’
And we’re not afraid to call out a few favorites. The Black Hole Duffel 100L ($179) is a top gear-hauler for big expeditions. Pack it full for your gear-intensive trips and rest assured it will handle the load.
Because we have to make a living and can’t play every day (boo!), our team also loves the Black Hole Pack 32L ($149). It’s a good commuter pack that fits all the tools we need for a day’s work, a change of clothes for an after-work workout, and a laptop in a protective sleeve. And the pack stretches into a good peak-bagging pack for weekend jaunts up 14ers.
Every Black Hole bag is incredibly durable, water-resistant, and backed by Patagonia’s Ironclad Guarantee. You can check out each and every one of the 25 new 100-percent recycled styles here. My favorites include the Ultralight Black Hole Pack 20L, Black Hole Wheeled Duffel 100L, Black Hole Gear Tote, and the Black Hole Duffel 55L.
Finally, the Patagonia Ultralight Black Hole Mini Hip Pack 1L is a great addition for stowing small items on bike rides, ski tours, and backcountry trips. The 1L size is just enough for things like sunglasses, keys, or a couple of bars while leaving pockets open. And at $30 for a fully recycled product, it’s a solid value.
We’re stoked to see Patagonia embrace even more recycled products, especially on a line that has proven itself year after year.
