The new virtual-reality-inspired digital timepiece is the latest iteration of Casio’s Full Metal Armor collection.

Casio G-Shock digital watches have a long history of toughness and utility. The latest addition to the storied G-Shock lineup is the GMWB5000TVB1. The watch has titanium construction, a sapphire crystal, and a brown-and-gray geometric camouflage pattern.

The GMWB5000TVB1 is the second watch in Casio’s Full Metal Armor collection. The collection is inspired by virtual reality and the powered armor featured in sci-fi video games throughout the decades.

A Watch From the Past or Future?

Casio’s been making G-Shocks since the early ’80s, and most models since then have included the same chunky styling. The GMWB5000TVB1 is no exception; so, if you hate the way digital watches look, this timepiece isn’t for you. But if you like a certain type of retro-futuristic feel, check out these features.

Casio uses a seven-step masking and engraving process to create the unique geometric camouflage pattern. There’s laser-engraved lettering throughout, and the titanium elements are coated with titanium carbide for added scratch resistance.

The GMWB5000TVB1 also includes a solar panel, Bluetooth capabilities with smartphone integration, water resistance up to 200 m, and all the timers and calendar features you’d expect from a digital watch. And of course, it has that famous G-Shock toughness. We’re willing to bet it won’t explode like some watches we could name.

The Casio G-Shock Camera will be available in July from gshock.com.
