With its Fall 2021/Spring 2022 gear collection, Patagonia continues its legacy of innovation, stewardship, and sustainability.
Since its inception, Patagonia has outpaced many of its contemporaries’ progressive ethics — sometimes by a margin of decades. As a multitude of active lifestyle and outdoor brands work on shifting traditional business practices to more eco-ethical ones, Patagonia looks to further push its commitments in that space.
The forthcoming fall and spring collections are no exception, charting a steady course in improved sustainability and transparency.
Here’s what we know so far about the ethically A-rated B-corp’s upcoming collections.
Patagonia Fall 2021 & Spring 2022 Gear
NetPlus, Recycled Ocean Plastic Outerwear
The people at Patagonia’s new NetPlus line the “first fully traceable recycled ocean plastic fabric outerwear collection.” Currently, 10 fall styles put NetPlus front and center, and another 65 styles use the oceans plastic fabric in other ways (ball cap brims, packets, pockets, and trims).
We expect to see a thorough extension of the NetPlus line with Patagonia’s Spring 2022 wave, too.
The ocean-focused lineup results from Patagonia’s partnership with NetPlus creator, Bureo.
Bureo is no stranger to partnering with influential companies and people in its mission to sequester and mitigate plastic ocean pollution. So far, the advocacy group claims to have recovered 3.37 million pounds of discarded fishing nets:
… we work to keep the most harmful form of plastic pollution, fishing nets, from entering our oceans. … We work together with fisheries and local communities to provide an incentivized program to collect, clean, sort and recycle fishing nets into our NetPlus material, creating positive solutions for end-of-use fishing nets, employment opportunities for local workers, and funding for community programs.
Check out the new NetPlus product line, and get hella cozy with the NetPlus Downdrift Jacket (from $299 MSRP).
Alpine Downlab, Technical Ultralight Down Tops
Patagonia says its Downlab collection “uses the lightest fabric Patagonia has ever used, across any product category to date.”
The company’s fabric and down are 100% recycled. Each piece is built to be highly packable, precisely cut, insulated, and low weight. Plus, the baffling and quilting patterns target improved dexterity for the wearer.
Alpine Downlab comes in classic Patagonia designs, like the AlpLight Down Pullover ($249 MSRP), Hooded Vest, and Crew Sweater.
Dual Aspect PFC-Free Waterproof/Breathable Jackets and Bibs
Also fresh this time around is the brand’s first fully PFC-free waterproof and breathable shells. Patagonia claims the jacket and bibs promise freedom of movement, full storm protection, and that the DWR coatings and membranes are entirely free of PFCs.
As of now, the Dual Aspect line comprises Bibs ($399 MSRP) and a Jacket ($449 MSRP).
Additional Eco-Conscious Fall 2021/Spring 2022 Gear
In addition to its NetPlus, Downlab, and Dual Aspect options, Patagonia improves on its old, faithful goods, too. Fall and spring collections bring meaner and greener renditions in all product segments. Here are just a few redux versions you can expect to see.
