The lodge will offer van parking spots, equipment rentals, a biergarten, and an option to sleep on a Black Diamond Portaledge in a hotel room. ‘Cause why not?
With the Field Station, travelers to Moab, Utah, have a new option for “basecamp” that offers a luxury vibe and modern amenities, while still catering to the outdoor crowd.
Opening in spring 2023, the Field Station lodge will have “affordable” rooms starting at $159 during the off-season. Van Life pricing is still being determined and will be finalized in later this year, a spokesperson said.
Inspiration for the rooms comes from Scandinavian industrial design, which evidently means “clean lines” and “open environments.”
Guests will have access to all-day room service, equipment rentals, educational programming, and outdoor guides. On-site amenities include a cafe, a biergarten, and a swimming pool.
For van lifers who rent out a spot, there’s access to communal areas, Wi-Fi, vehicle hookups, and communal bathrooms during their stay.
“There are many exciting locations around the country that cater to adventurous travelers yet fall short in the hospitality category,” Neil Dipaola, CEO and founder of AutoCamp Hospitality Group, said in the release. “Field Station transforms the outdoor lodging experience in an entirely new way to help connect even more people with nature.”

Field Station Accommodations
The lodge’s rooms offer more than comfortable beds. They also have “creative space for gear storage,” the company said. And options for king and double queen beds, as well as bunk rooms.
Ever felt curious about how it feels to sleep on the side of a big wall like El Capitan? If so, Field Station has got you covered.
“A selection of rooms also feature Black Diamond Portaledges offering guests the experience of what it feels like to sleep in a hanging bed used by rock climbers on cliff faces,” the company said.
