An iPod might be lighter, but for these climbers it’s just not the same.

For more than five years, climbers Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll, Nicolas Favresse, and Stéphane Hanssens have been climbing together and making their own music on the mountain.

They usually take out their instruments and have a portaledge jam session when waiting for snow to pass or at the end of a long day.

On their latest expedition, climber and filmmaker Evrard Wendenbaum joined the team to climb and document the adventure. He recently released a video of the team making music high up the South Pillar of the Kyzyl Asker in Western China during a snowstorm. —Amy Oberbroeckling
