Think you can run 21 million steps in 2 weeks? It’s impossible — unless we do it together. That’s what inov-8 and COROS are out to prove: We aren’t in this alone.
Inov-8 and COROS have partnered to launch a worldwide, “group run” community-effort giveaway. The goal? Help log 21 million steps (since it’s 2021).
“The challenge is, as one global team, to amass 21 million steps through exercise, be that through running, walking, hiking, working-out or anything else,” inov-8 wrote.
But there’s more. The bigger goal is to raise awareness on mental health topics and the benefits of exercise for mental health.
In June 2019, inov-8 launched a similar campaign: a virtual ’round the world run in a week. “We brought together a team of more than 1,000 runners to complete a 25,000-mile virtual lap of the world,” said inov-8 COO Michael Price.
But this time, they’re stepping it up with a giveaway, and, hopefully, more runners will take part.
21 Million Steps: How It Works
The 2-week giveaway push and Step Up and Play Your Part challenge include discount codes for participants; a social outlet; daily prizes like running, hiking, and fitness kits; GPS watches; and more. The challenge is open to everyone worldwide.
- Go to the campaign page and sign up. All you need is an email. Then start logging steps. Simply use your watch, mobile phone, fitness tracker, or pedometer to count your steps and log them daily through the webpage.
- You can also share your steps on social media by using the hashtags #inov8StepUp and #CorosStepUp. “Get creative and have fun with it,” the campaign suggests.
- Finally, remember to “play your part.” Still in the midst of a pandemic, inov-8 and COROS are asking participants to be mindful of how they get their steps in. “This includes exercising responsibly. We ask everyone to stringently follow all government guidelines that apply to their local area. If in any doubt, stay local and explore the area around where you live,” the brands wrote.
