A $3 million parks restoration project is finally complete.

Today, Nature Valley announced the completion of its initiative to restore access to 10,000 miles of national park trails. Three years ago, Nature Valley donated $3 million to the National Park Foundation for various projects. “Because hiking through the forest or reaching a new peak [makes] any day better,” Nature Valley wrote in its press release.

Projects included improving trail and transit infrastructure, building new trails, protecting fragile ecosystems, preserving historical sites, and more. The funds went directly to the National Park Foundation, which distributed them to 19 different national parks across the country. Parks on the list include Shenandoah, Yosemite, and Carlsbad Caverns.

“Connecting people to nature is at the heart of the Nature Valley brand,” said Kristin Atherton, brand experience director. “We are delighted that these restored trails will enable more people to find solace in America’s treasured national parks.”

And although park restoration is already cool, Nature Valley recruited Grammy award-winner Daveed Diggs to make a little jingle in celebration. Specifically, he covered The Proclaimers’ 1980s ballad “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).” Yes, the lyrics are different, but it’s still a fun listen.

“The remake is meant to encourage people to get outdoors and explore while also serving as Nature Valley’s rallying call to restore access to more miles [of trails],” wrote Nature Valley.

The brand plans to donate another $3 million to the National Park Foundation to support further park restoration.
