What will two of the most accomplished mountain athletes of all time say to each other? Find out in an interview that drops Thursday morning.
If you follow climbing or endurance running, then the two athletes featured in today’s interview need little introduction.
Most non-climbers will know Tommy Caldwell from “The Dawn Wall.” But his diverse career has cemented the Colorado native as one of the most accomplished big wall climbers of all time.
In endurance running, Kilian Jornet seems unable to stop winning races and setting new records. Most recently, the Spanish runner set a new record on the Hardrock 100.
The two megastars come together today for a 37-minute video interview hosted by up-and-coming sports watch maker COROS.
Tommy Caldwell and Kilian Jornet
The athletes had never met before, and COROS scheduled the interview for the day after Jornet’s record-setting run. They filmed it in Estes Park, Colo., Caldwell’s hometown. It’s the third episode in the COROS Convos series.
Though they never shared a handshake before today, it’s immediately clear that they’ve followed each other’s careers. The video kicks off with Caldwell admitting he usually doesn’t follow other sports — yet Jornet is an exception. And for Jornet, Caldwell has “been a huge inspiration.”
“We can learn a lot from other activities, from other sports — even if it’s not exactly the same,” Jornet said.
Anyone interested in hearing from two of the greatest athletes of their generation should not miss COROS’ latest interview.
