Ice doesn’t grow in the backcountry, and if you’ve ever worked support crew, you know unscheduled stops to replenish supplies can be hard to squeeze into the schedule. Less ice stops are a good thing.

“I had an old steel belted cooler. My wife just about killed me,” Jurek said. “It wouldn’t keep things cold. I needed a good cooler.”

Jurek chose the Yeti Tundra 50, and it worked flawlessly.

“It’s just incredible how long it will keep things cold,” he said. “It was an essential part of keeping food. It wasn’t always easy to find ice. From a crew standpoint as well as car camping, it’s one of the best coolers out there.
