Trail Sisters has partnered with Merrell and Nathan to bring us the latest virtual running challenge.
Today, Trail Sisters launched its inaugural Run Around the World Camaraderie Challenge. No, this isn’t another virtual race. (Although those are fun too.) The Run Around the World Challenge is about runners working together to achieve a goal.
The goal is simple: People from around the world will collectively run 24,901 miles, the distance around the globe. The challenge launched this morning and will continue until participants reach the goal together.
“Running together in groups is a driving force for our community. It fosters new friendships, trail running education, exploration of local routes, and simply the motivation to get outside,” reads the challenge description.
“The COVID-19 crisis is forcing us apart, preventing coveted interactions. But together, we will fight the COVID-19 pandemic by traveling around the globe. ”
Run Around the World for COVID-19
There is a suggested $5 fee to participate in this challenge. Merrell, Nathan, and Trail Sisters will be donating all race fees and proceeds to the CDC ’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
“We’re all in this together,” writes Trail Sisters. “Let’s contribute either by miles, inspiration, or donations and circle the globe!”
How to Join
Simply visit the Trail Sisters Camaraderie Challenge site to get started. You can walk or run — inside, outside, or even on a balcony. Wherever you decide to log your miles, make sure you follow state and federal stay-at-home guidelines.
The best part is there is no set distance to participate. You can run as far as you want, as many times as you want. Simply log and upload your miles to the site.
So far, participants have run a collective 425 miles.
