The young Boulderite posted the climb to Instagram Tuesday. He’s now the author of the world’s two newest V17 boulder problems.
“On fire,” was French crusher Seb Bouin’s stripped-down comment on Shawn Raboutou’s Nov. 15 first ascent post. That pretty much says it. Raboutou claimed the first ascent of “Megatron,” V17, his most recent mega-hard Colorado project.
Raboutou himself disclosed nothing about the climb in the post — other than the name and grade, all he offered was a teaser about a Mellow video coming Friday.

To find out more now, you’ll be doing the same thing as us and the rest of the boulderers on the planet who were too square to be there. But get one thing straight: Shawn Raboutou currently lives nowhere but on the tip of the bouldering spear.
News of the ascent leaves little doubt that other contenders are filing their callouses, salving their fingertips, and sanding down their shoes in anticipation of grabbing “Megatron’s” first repeat. Aidan Roberts and Will Bosi quickly retrod Raboutou’s tracks on “Alphane,” his last V17 FA — which he posted in August.
