It’s hard to tell in this picture because there is such much dang pow, but this is @austensweetin absolutely ripping it up in Whistler B.C. Fuelled on poutine and caesars, GearJunkie editor @natemitka , @austensweetin, and the rad crew from @quiksilver took advantage of the first big storm of the season. Legs are pumped, and voices are hoarse from all the hooting and hollering. Gear testing is hard! Who’s excited to go big and rip it up this winter?! ❄️🏂⛷
Did you know that today is ‘International Mountain Day’? Ultra-runner and human being extraordinaire @haileyvandyk shares why she is drawn to the ⛰. Are you drawn to the mountains? If yes, why? . ・・・
“Happy International Mountain Day!
Mountains are clearly a huge part of my life and I seem to follow them all around the world. From uprooting my life and moving to Squamish, to falling in love with a mountain man from the surprisingly mountainous country of Costa Rica... and even to where I choose to spend my free time and my holidays, and the passions I pursue! I always #choosemountains!! These massive, powerful structures influence my life greatly and keep calling me back to explore more! 📷: @adameloso in collaboration with @icebreakernz and @thegearjunkie 🙌🏼💜”

Last week we asked where your favorite place was that you have set up camp. Holy moly there were some unreal places and hilarious stories in your responses! If you have pictures and stories about your adventures, we would love to see them and potentially share them with the community. Please tag @thegearjunkie if you would like us to check them out. Head-to-toe gear and steely determination got athlete/mom/GearJunkie contributor @jasonandchelsey through hundreds of miles in Chile late last month, where she biked, trekked, and navigated wild terrain in the infamous Patagonian Expedition Race. In total, it took her and Team Bend Racing/YogaSlackers 6 days, 4 hours, and 23 minutes of near-constant motion to achieve their long-sought goal of wining the event, which has been dubbed the toughest race in the world. 📷: @t_brower .
